The Unborn Need YOU
It is my opinion that abortion is a terrible evil, and a curse on this
land, and that every effort must be made to end it at the earliest
possible time. On the other hand, we must not adopt the tactics of murder
or threats in order to achieve our ends. It is impossible to defeat evil
with evil, for even if you win that way, you still have … evil. Our method
must be to defeat evil with good. We are engaged in a type of opinion
warfare where the most convincing arguments will eventually prevail if
they are allowed to be heard. Our disadvantage is that the primary means
of communication in this country are squarely opposed to the pro-life
message, but our advantage is that science, logic and philosophy are
squarely on our side, and we must use those to our advantage.
First, I encourage each one of you to be proficient in defending the right
of the unborn to live. Stand to Reason has a great resource for sharpening
your skills called "Making Abortion Unthinkable: The Art of Pro-Life
Persuasion". Since I do a lot of driving, I make it a habit to listen to
tapes on the road. I get where I am going and get an education at the same
time. Try it. Another good resource is from Renewing Your Mind and is
called "Abortion: A Rational Look At an Emotional Issue", which can be
downloaded in mp3 format for a nominal cost.
Before any war can be won, well trained warriors are needed. Each of us
needs to make it our objective to be formidable opponents in any war of
words on the subject of abortion. Without warriors that are willing to
engage the enemy, we cannot win.
Second, casualties are mounting in this war against the unborn and
inaction is not an option, so I encourage each one of you to get into the
battle in whatever peaceful way you think best. In this respect, the petition is
just one option among many that would allow you to enter the
battlefield of ideas.
Whatever you do, do it with the conviction that you are doing what is
right, and never give up. Remember that you speak for those who have no voice.
